Comparative Study between Percutaneous Ilioilial Fixator versus Percutaneous Iliosacral Screw in Managing Sacral Fractures
Abstract
Fractures
of the sacrum are challenging to both surgeons and patients, both in the
immediate post-injury phase and later when definitive fixation is undertaken.
Closed reduction and percutaneous fixation of sacral fracture provides early
stabilization without large surgical exposure and major complications
associated with open surgeries. Percutaneous iliosacral screw fixation is the
gold standard treatment for sacral fractures without spinopelvic dissociation.
A new technique for stabilizing sacral fracture treatment is the percutaneous
ilioilial fixator. It is often called a Trans iliac internal fixator (TIFI).
