Robotics in Arthroplasty: Historical Progression, Contemporary Applications, and Future Horizons with AI Integration
Abstract
Robotic technology is revolutionizing surgical procedures, offering unprecedented precision and control in tasks that exceed human capabilities. Among these advancements, robot-assisted arthroplasty stands as a groundbreaking innovation, reshaping the field of orthopedic surgery. This state-of-the-art technology enables surgeons to achieve unparalleled accuracy and consistency, leading to significantly improved patient outcomes. As surgical robotic systems continue to evolve, they are steadily gaining traction in clinical practice. However, for widespread adoption, these systems must demonstrate ease of use, clinical efficacy, and cost-effectiveness. My work explores the remarkable evolution of robotic systems in arthroplasty, evaluates their current applications, and investigates future possibilities, particularly through the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), to further expand the potential of robot-assisted arthroplasty procedures.
